Can swollen ankles be caused by poor circulation?

Yes. Problems with venous circulation can cause blood to pool in the lower legs and contribute to ankle and leg swelling. However, swelling can also have other causes, so it should not automatically be attributed to poor circulation. Texas Comprehensive Care's Vein & Vascular Care team in Sugar Land can evaluate symptoms and recommend appropriate diagnostic testing when needed.
